United Nations recognized International award WINNERS for Women Empowerment by Global Sourcing Council, New York. For Socially Responsible and Sustainable Practices - Winners of Peoples Choice Award Category 2015

Lucknow, UP (October, 14th 2015) – DiDi’s won The Global Sourcing Council 3S People’s Choice Award at The UNITED NATIONS on September 14th 2015. The award was received by Ms. Shibani Sahni, Director Strategy, Marketing and Partnerships at DiDi’s, in New York at the UN. The DiDi’s management team constitutes Dr. Urvashi Sahni, Ms. Veena Anand and Ms. Shibani Sahni.

This International Award recognized and honours DiDi’s at the forefront of Sustainable & Socially Responsible Sourcing for being the Number 1 Global Organisation for its all-incoming work in Women Empowerment, Gender Equality, Community Mobilization, Leadership Mentoring, Vocational Training and Poverty Alleviation.

DiDi’s was revered for its work, vision and commitment by Global Sourcing Council towards 9 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) identified by the UNITED NATIONS at the UN Summit in September 2015 in New York City, USA. Key areas where DiDi’s is making an impact and adding to Global Development through its work in Lucknow are – Gender Equality, Reducing Inequalities, No Poverty, Zero Hunger and Good Health and Well-Being.

At DiDi’s we rescue underprivilidged women from various forms of gender-based violence like – domestic abuse, sexual harassment, women trafficking etc., and equip them with skills on cooking, tailoring and driving. We have a vision to create a nationwide and global community of girls and women that are educated, empowered and equipped with multiple skills to live a life of sustained financial and emotional independence.

Though DiDi’s work in Educating, Enabling and Empowering Women we create a DiDi’s team of strong, confident and ambitious women that are ready to take on the world.

  • 4 of our DiDi’s girls are currently pursuing their Bachelors Degree
  • 2 are enrolled in an MBA programme
  • 3 are undergoing a Masters degree in Women's Studies
  • DiDi’s cooks over 2000 meals a day as on date
  • DiDi’shas trained 4professional lady drivers to drive our food delivery van across Lucknow City
  • Our clients in Lucknow range from eminent Corporate, Schools to Cafes & various city food marts

DiDi’s through this award was given a platform to interact with Sr. officials and CEO’s of top global organizations like – UNITED NATIONS, Microsoft, Ben & Jerry’s, Avasant Foundation, Teleperformance, Endeavor &The World BPO/ITO Forum to name a few. Professors from leading U.S. Universities also offered Consultation, Strategy advice and Leadership support to DiDi’s. The Council General of India in the USalso extended his support to DiDi’s during the award ceremony. This award affirms DiDi’s as an outstanding example of its sustainable development model in creating and maintaining sustainable livelihoods for women.

The women and girls at DiDi’swork hard to apply themselves in becoming personal change agents in their own lives and in-turn becoming social activists in their society. In doing so DiDi’s constitutes a working template for assisting others globally in creating a scalable sustainable business model – A social business where we make Profit with a Purpose!
